In summer, coastal areas continue to be the preferred destinations for domestic and international tourists, but they also have a certain appeal all over the year.
In Italy, bookings of availability in accommodation establishments on Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) channels stood at around 46.0% between June and August (June 46.5%; July 45.3%; August 45.2%).

The seaside sector is the most appreciated with an overall OTA saturation of about 50.0%, a percentage higher than the national average. In the period considered, of course, the peak of saturation occurs in August (51.0%), with the central week of the month in clear evidence (57.9%).

Preferring an accommodation in a secluded position stone's throw from the sea compared to the most tourist places, outlines the desire for a stay of complete relax and total privacy, maybe surrounded by green, where to enjoy a holiday with family or friends. It is for this reason that villas are the most popular type of accommodation to spend a stay on the Italian coasts. Followed by tourist campsites near the sea, for a holiday in relaxation, in close contact with nature, a greater autonomy in time management and the opportunity to fully enjoy what the surrounding context offers. During the period considered, the respective saturation level in these 2 types of accommodation is 66.7% and 57.2%. And then, we have over 50% saturation in holiday villages (52,6%) and B&B (50,4%). Among the most popular seaside destinations from June to August, the coastal areas of Liguria (58.4%), Campania (54.4%), Abruzzo, (52.9%), Tuscany (52.8%) and Friuli Venezia-Giulia (48.7%).
